Reborn Dolls: An Art Form
A reborn doll is a piece of art inspired by the beauty of human life. Each doll is a unique, one of a kind work that typically requires at least two artists to create. Sculpt artists start with clay and create a realistic sculpture of a baby or child. From that sculpture kits are made which other individual artists then paint, using a detailed, multi-step process. The components of the doll are assembled by the artist using a variety of techniques to add realism in how the doll poses, moves and feels when held. Sometimes a third artist is involved if they have a specialty such as rooting hair. The final piece is a piece of art that took many hours of specialized skill and extreme creativity. Each doll is created in private studios, never a factory. To be a reborn doll enthusiast is to be an art collector - curating the perfect pieces for your private collection. No two true reborns dolls are alike and the realism achieved by these artists is truly awe inspiring.
